FIRE TYPE

According to the NFPA standard of USA, there are mainly 5 types of fire.

Types of Fire

Class A - wood, paper, cloth, trash and other ordinary materials.
Class B - gasoline, grease, oil, paint and other flammable liquids.
Class C - live electrical equipment.
Class D - combustible metals.
Class K - fire in cooking appliances that involve combustible cooking media.
Different classes of fire will require different fire extinguishing substances to suppress. Therefore, you should know the potential hazard of the area you want to protect before choosing a suitable fire protection system or fire extinguishers.

In common, an ABC Dry Powder fire extinguisher is enough to protect normal areas like home and office. However, special locations like gas station and kitchen will need special type fire extinguisher.
